"We Need Each Other"
MIPA Is
The
Photographic Brain Trust
We need you and it's quite likely that you need us. We are the Mid-States Imaging and Photographic Association. The organization was founded in 1959 to advance the profession of photography by encouraging mutual assistance among members. These members are an "Expert Group" whose backgrounds include experience in Industrial and Commercial Photography and in Graphic Design. There are resources of experience within the membership to assist and resolve almost any photographic challenge you might encounter. Monthly meetings provide an informal mechanism for the exchange and dissemination of photographic and imaging information and techniques on a regular basis. Periodic seminars on subjects of interest to the professional members range from workshops on video production, location photography, digital capture, image manipulation, audiovisual presentation techniques, and portraiture. In addition, we offer scholarships to assist the less experienced professional photographer.
A monthly newsletter includes meeting announcements, news about members and information to keep everyone abreast of new developments, products, and techniques.
We welcome students who are considering becoming professional photographers. Since most students are on limited budgets, we offer them reduced membership dues.
Students can gain useful, practical advice and pointers from their interaction with working professionals.
Why Do We Need You?
You have skills and techniques that will add to the knowledge base
we share.
Why Do You Need Us?
We have information to share with you that could be of use to you in
your job. A membership directory of current members is published
annually. Members in Mid-States are more than willing to help another
member with questions, challenges, and to get a job done. When a problem
arises the solution could be as near as your phone. Our web site hosts a
discussion group which can also be a source of information. It can also
be used as a marketing tool as well. If you don’t have a web site of
your own, you can have your images posted to the MIPA site and have
perspective clients view them there. If you do have your own site, you
can link from our site to yours, thus giving you another avenue of
exposure.
You owe it to yourself as a photographer or imaging specialist to consider membership in Mid-States. Attend a meeting as our guest and discover a congenial group, dedicated to doing the best possible photography for their company or business.
